Dear John Lennon,
After I finished reading, “Love Letters To The Dead” I thought about which dead person I would love to write a love letter to. Most people would have guessed, and they’ll be right. I wanted to write a love letter to you, because you are one of my favorite artist of all time but sadly you died 10 years before I was even born.
I never had the chance to share Earth with you, but your legacy lived enough for me to meet you through your music. I met you when I first listened to “The Beatles” when I was 14 yrs old, after that my music life changed. I knew then that I would never love or admire no one better than your band. You weren’t the best singer of The Beatles, but the feeling you used to put in your voice and the presence you had made me like you the most. Your solo career was very succesful too. I keep an album of your best solo albums songs and I relate to many of them.Your music made me forget bad situations and change my whole mood when I am angry.
A lot of people hate you or simply don’t like you and say a lot of bad things about you because, you didn’t believe in God and there’s a whole debate of what you believed in and I can understad. You wanted a world where people could live in peace where nothing could separe us as human beings. I believe that too, and the end of the day we are all humans. You fought for peace, you fought for justice and that’s something we must all do no matter our religion.
You weren’t perfect; you made your mistakes like everyone does and, most people don’t understad you, I think I do John. Your mother refused you raise you and died when you were very young, and your father ran away from you and never saw you again. You maybe felt unloved, not enough, frustrated but you were a genius and your head probably was so full that sometimes you just exploded. But here’s my favorite part of you, you didn’t gave up your dreams. I’m almost giving up mine and I have more than you had. You went through a lot, you grieved your mother all your life but never gave up your dreams of making your band. You made your dreams and achived more that you could ever imagined. You changed music, you made history, you became a legend, a hero. I don’t know if at one point of your short life you realize your purpose on this Earth. Maybe you never vauled your friends but they loved you, and the world loves you John.
I remember my last time in NYC walking by Dakote Building where you lived and died, I couldn’t hold back my tears. I thought about your life and everything you mean to me and to a lot of people and I felt my heart breaking. I couldn’t be there much time. Your legacy will continue and your memory will never die. I love you John Lennon.
